18.11.2008ALP AVIATION DELIVERED FAN ROTOR REAR HUB, THE FIRST TURKISH MADE F-135 ENGINE COMPONENT, TO PRATT & WHITNEYAnkara, November 18th, 2008 – Alp Aviation delivered Fan Rotor Rear Hub, the first Turkish made F-35 engine component for F-135 program, to Pratt & Whitney in a ceremony in Ankara. The hardware delivered today was the fan rear hub - a major rotating component within the F135 fan module - that connects the fan module to the low pressure turbine. This critical component will be produced by Alp Aviation for all three F135 propulsion system variants – conventional take-off and landing (CTOL), short take-off and landing (STOVL) and the carrier variant (CV). Alp Aviation’s expertise in manufacturing critical components has established them as a key supplier of F135 rotating hardware technology.
This delivery is an important milestone for the Turkish aerospace industry and the F135 engine program. This delivery is also an important achievement for Alp Aviation and represents a major step in developing Alp Aviation's engine manufacturing capability at an international level.
The ceremony was attended by the Minister of National Defence Vecdi Gönül, the Minister of Finance Kemal Unakıtan, Deputy of Eskişehir Emin Nedim Öztürk, Turkish Air Force and Undersecretariat of Defense Industries representatives. Upper Management of companies including Sikorsky, Pratt & Whitney, Locheed Martin and BAE Systems also attended the ceremony.
